Welcome to the Semi-Alternative Lifestyler.

My name is Janine Blackburn and I am married to Andrew. We met and married around age 40 and 19 years later we abandoned my childhood home for a new start in the country.  Or maybe you could call it the semi-country.  It's certainly different from where I used to live.

Many years ago I started a blog by the same name detailing our bid as a couple towards a degree of self-sufficiency on our small suburban property.  Our life became less alternative so I put the blog on hold.

​

The last year have seen some big upheavals for both of us.  New jobs, new home and a new lifestyle.

While the name may give the impression of a couple of do it yourselfers, sadly we have many areas where we are woefully incompetent.  But we are trying to fix that and are not ashamed to ask for help.
